Inductees 2013 |
Pocono Drag Lodge Reunion 50th anniversary (PHOTO PAGE) |
Harry Laplatte was on hand, up from Florida, to make the final presentations to the 2013 Drag Race Hall of Fame.com inductees . 2013 inductee, Art Marshall just happened to have a dragster with him, which he started and rolled up to the original starting-line. Art revved the engine in cackle-fest tradition thrilling those in attendance. Laplatte also presented plaques to Ray Whitney and Roger Munn. Munn, well know in the New Jersey area had a speed shop during the era prior to moving to Florida where he builds boats engines now. Roger's son still operates Roger's Speed Shop in Garwood, NJ along with co-owner Gary Roben. Whitney hailing out of Connecticut ran a 1962 409" Chevrolet station wagon back in the day in Stock eliminator. Today, Ray along with Alan Peters race a recreation of the car and just competed at the NED 1 LODRS event at ATCO Raceway last week. (8/12/2013) |

Pocono Drag Lodge Reunion UPDATE 2013.... |
With the Pocono Drag Lodge Reunion just less than three months away (Saturday, August 10th), DRHOF.com's Harry Laplatte is out beating the bushes promoting the show and bringing several of the inductees to the event. Harry met Art Marshall, a 2013 Inductee this morning to discuss plans. Marshall, a longtime NHRA Top Fuel dragster driver from upstate New York holds the distinction of being the winner of the 1972 Grandnationals T/F Champion! What is significant about his win is it was the last time a front-engined T/F dragster won an NHRA national event. Marshall is still active and campaigns a nostalgia fuel car on the east coast. For additional information on the "Reunion" contact: Charlie Hulsizer at 845.635.3662 (in the evenings) or e-mail ecoair9798@aol.com. (5/22/2013) |
